2 seriously hurt in Route 248 crash

Two women were seriously injured Tuesday morning in a head-on crash that occurred along SR248 in Parryville. State police at Lehighton said the crash occurred about 10:20 a.m. in the westbound lanes at the Centre Street off ramp. Troopers said Irene M. Quinn, 68, of Palmerton, was driving a 1991 Buick LeSabre eastbound when she lost control for unknown reasons. The Buick crossed over a raised concrete median and crashed head-on into a Dodge Dakota truck operated by Douglas D. Dodge, 77, of Northampton, who was stopped for traffic in a construction area. Quinn and a passenger with Dodge, Bonnie Dodge, 64, same address, were flown by medical helicopters to St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill, for treatment of injuries. Douglas Dodge was not injured. Troopers were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the Parryville Fire Company and rescue unit and Lehighton EMS unit. Damages were disabling to both vehicles, troopers said.
