VFW auxiliaryThe regular monthly meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial VFW Post 8008 will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Post Home on E. Center Street.President Mandy Breiner will preside at the session. All members are invited to attend.Summit HillHistorical societyThe Summit Hill Historical Society is looking for loans/donations of historical items that can be used for displays in the windows at the museum. Among the suggested items are things about town history, art, and sports related or holiday themed artifacts.Anyone who has items to be displayed are asked to call Maxine Vermillion, (570) 645-9772.Food distributionThe Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food to the needy in the community on a monthly basis, with the deliveries usually taking place on the fourth Tuesday of each month.The Summit Hill Lions Club has taken on the task of assisting the pantry with its distributions. Boxes are usually packed on a Thursday, beginning at 9 a.m. The Second Harvest truck delivery of commodities (which needs to be unloaded) usually takes place on the last Thursday of the month. Lions Club members are reminded of this service project. Commander W.
