State police at Fern Ridge reported on two crashes probed by troopers recently.

A crash occurred about 12:25 p.m. on Aug. 31 along SR209 at the intersection with McIlhaney Road, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Praful Patel, 59, of North Bergen, N.J., and Thomas J. Colbert, 27, of Saylorsburg, were stopped for traffic in opposite directions. Troopers said a vehicle pulled out from McIlhaney Road into Patel's path as he pulled out. Patel swerved his 1999 Saturn SL to avoid the other car and collided head-on into Colbert's 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer.Patel and his passenger, Priya Patel, 16, same address, Colbert and his passenger, Christopher Brophy, 38, of Macungie, were all not injured.A crash occurred about 9:36 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, along SR115 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Alma Maldonado-Colon, 49, of Effort, was stopped going northbound to make a left turn when her 1995 Dodge Intrepid was struck in the rear by a 2001 Dodge Durango operated by Eva J. Lightcap, 57, of Effort.Lightcap sustained a minor injury and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. Colon and her passenger, Carlos Colon, 56, same address, were not injured.Troopers cited Lightcap for driving too fast for conditions.
