Blue Mountain Health System unveils its newest investment in patient care: wireless, high-definition laparoscopic equipment, manufactured by Stryker, today at both its Gnaden Huetten and Palmerton campuses.

Here are the benefits, said BMHS spokeswoman Lisa Johnson:• It is the first of its kind in wireless technology.• It features an eco-friendly light source that reduces hazardous waste by preventing frequent changes of light bulbs, overall lower operating costs and increased safety.• The platform includes a MiniLap instrument line that allows for less invasive standard laparoscopic procedures but also aids in single incision laparoscopic surgery.• The platform also includes an articulating laparoscope that transmits both HD and HDTV video signals for optimal viewing in all areas of surgery. It features the ability to take pictures, record video, white balance and increase or decrease light from the surgical field.• A Medical Imaging Information Management system allows for video capture and storage, DVD burning as well as archiving. It allows for the recording of all surgical footage in crisp, high definition video.• All new, HDTV flat panel monitors allow for improved color reproduction and picture-by-picture capabilities and create an optimal operating environment for surgeons and surgical staff.
