LEHIGHTON

Head coach - Shawn Hindy (5th Year)Assistant coaches - Courtney Schleicher, Ashley FreyLast year's record - 26-0 (MVC, District, State Champions)League - Mountain ValleyClassification - AAKey losses - Abby Frey, Cori McConville, Sarah Snyder, Vanessa RimbeyKey returnees - Echo Bretz, Jordyn Homyak, Courtney Berger, Kacey Beck.Others to watch - Steph Slaw, Rachel Werley, Emily Kollar, Sarah Keer.Strengths - Reloading with talent is a yearly ritual with the Indians and they do do with Bretz, Homyak, Berger, Teno, and Slaw. Tough schedule will prepare them for road ahead.Weaknesses - Losing unsung hero, Snyder, in goal and the offense of Frey, McConville, and Rimbey will be no easy task. The schedule might make things tough for the Indian success as the replacements get their feet wet and gel as a team.Quoteable -"We still have the same team goals this year which is to win the MVC, District XI, and State Championship. The girls have worked extremely hard this off season and will continue to improve to achieve these goals." - Coach HindyPALMERTONHead coach - Kim Seiler (1st year)Assistant coaches - Daniele SchneiderLast year's record - 2-16League - ColonialClassification - 2AKey returnees - Morgan Myers, jr.; Alexa Petersen, jr.; Kayla Creed, jr.; Lydia Anthony, jr.Others to watch - Kelsey Eaton, jr.; Kylee Turko, jr.; Morgan Mummey,so.; Stephanie Buck, so.; Samantha Doherty, so.Strengths - Coach Seiler will rely on the defense as the strength until the offense finds its groove. Coach will also have a good core of young talent to work with as she starts her tenure at the helm.Weaknesses - Inexperience at the varsity level is something a young nucleus may have trouble overcoming as they look to improve upon last season's record.Quoteable - "Hard work and building confidence are the keys to our success." - Coach Sieler.PLEASANT VALLEYHead coach - Bob Young (12th year, 30th overall)Assistant coaches - Christine Collaro and Colleen DinanLast year's record - 10-9-2 (7-5-1 in MVC)League - Mountain Valley ConferenceClassification - AAAKey losses - Sam Cunningham, Cathryn Chaszar, Jordan Borger and Kelsey McGarveyKey returnees - Felicia Domenici, Allison Heckman, Alanna Liptak, Maggie Patterson, Kristin Hart, Alura Bellis, Madalyn Owermohle, Emily Larkin.Others to watch - Kira Sever, Katie Forte, Hannah Bard and Jenn O'Neil.Strengths - Experience and speed are the words to describe this season's squad as they look to improve on last season's district qualifier.Weaknesses - The weaknesses are not as visible to the average fan as the returning experience. Young's squad has to work on the little things and improve on passing to make the season special.Quoteable - "As with wine, every year is a good year, but hoping for a superior vintage in 2010!" - Coach YoungNORTHERN LEHIGHHead coach - Jessica Frew (6th year)Assistant coaches - Kelly Follweiler, Cindy FriztingerLast year's record - 9-8-2League - Colonial LeagueClassification - 2 AKey losses - Taylor Farber, Kelsey Gallagher, Danielle Dooley, Amanda SchippersKey returnees - Rachel Wagner, Kayla Breinsinger, Kristi Seiler, Alisha Bowers, Heather Chandler, Nicole Pitosky, Kianna BellesfieldOthers to watch - Payton Marunich, Nicole Horn, Kelsey Follweiler, Casey Gavalla, Morgane Danish, Morgan Farber, Lauren ZellnerStrengths - This year's team has the fastest forward line in all of Coach Frew's tenure as head coach. They are looking forward to using this speed to their advantage and attack Colonial League defenses.Weaknesses - With only three seniors the team is young and is lacking in varsity experience as Frew's starting roster contains three sophomores and one freshmanQuoteable - "The team's goal is to make the league and district playoffs however, the league is tough this year and every game on the schedule will be an extremely competitive match up." - Coach FrewNORTHWESTERNHead coach - Jess BeckerAssistant coaches - Tracey HudakLast year's record - 11-6-1 (9-6-1)League - Colonial LeagueClassification - AAKey losses - Kina Wehr, Olivia Danner, Alison Oxley, Kayla Miller, Caitlin BagenstoseKey returnees - Lauren Horner (Jr.), Sam Rex (Sr.), Tiffany Gumina (Jr.), Jenn Groller (Jr.), Sarah Murray (Sr.), Caileigh Landrigan (Jr.), Samantha Partington (Jr.)Others to watch - Kaleen Suter (So.), Abigail Schneck (Fr.), Paige Horner (Fr.)Strengths - The Tigers return three of four players that made the All-League team last year, as Lauren Horner was a First-Team midfielder, while Rex earned a Second-Team selection at goal keeper and Gumina got an Honorable Mention at forward. The team's second-leading scorer from last season returns in Landrigan, along with six other starters from a district qualifying team. Scoring goals should be a strength for Northwestern, which made its first trip back to districts last year after a two-year hiatus. This year's team expects to get back to the postseason and contend for titles.Weaknesses - Replacing one of the league's top scorer Wehr, a First-Team All League forward, will be difficult but not impossible with so many returning forwards and midfielders. The Tigers will need to solidify the defense. It should help that Rex has two years of experience and Shani Hohneck is also capable of taking over the cage. The goal keeping will need to be solid while three young defenders gain varsity experience.Quoteable - "This group of girls sets high standards for themselves. They made it to districts last year and that was great, but I don't think that's going to be good enough for this group of kids. They want more. They're hungry." - Coach Becker
