Welcome basket presented to new business in Slatington

Northern Lehigh Future Focus presented a Welcome Basket to the new kid on the block. The 900 block of Main Street, Slatington that is. And the "new kid" is Williams' Carry Out Cafe & Catering at 918 Main St.

Williams' is owned by Harrison Williams. He promises that his customers will find everything and anything to please your palate.Williams' offers hot and cold sandwiches, (Dietz & Watson products,) daily specials, homemade soups and salads, "from the heart and all freshly made here," says Williams.If you don't see an entrée on the menu, ask and he says he'll have it for you by the next day.If you're having a party, wedding, shower, bar mitzvah, he hopes you'll consider Williams' to do all your catering.Williams has been in the food business since he began with the Wood company in 1968. He worked for Newhart Foods for 15 years, American Cafe and then Unidyne. When he found himself unemployed at the age of 56, he decided it was time to start his own business."You can choose your own destiny," he says.Williams' Carry Out Cafe & Catering is located in the former Uptown Deli owned by David and Donna Hinkle. David passed away two years ago and Williams now rents from Donna.Williams' Carry Out Cafe & Catering opened its doors on July 23, 2010. Its hours are, Monday-Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m., closed Sundays. The number to call is 610-216-4284.Williams says his goals are to serve a good quality product and hopefully someday expand.Besides Williams' friendly face behind the counter, you may meet Barbara Wilcrout and Doug Keichel.Northern Lehigh Future Focus, a Slatington based community visioning group serving the Northern Lehigh area, has a tradition of welcoming new businesses to the community."We wish you the opportunity for success and welcome you to Slatington," said Les Glanz, Chairman of Downtown Revitalization Task Force of Future Focus.Also present to offer their hand of welcome was Walter Niedermeyer, mayor of Slatington and Dan Stevens, president of Future Focus.
