Seven are hurt in Lowhill crash

Seven persons were injured, one seriously, in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday at 10:29 a.m. on State Route 100, just north of Lyon Valley Road, in Lowhill Township.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks said Anne Lehman, 76, of Sugarloaf, sustained serious internal injuries in the crash, which is still under investigation. She was the driver of one of the vehicles.Also hurt were Melissa M. Miler, 32, of New Tripoli, the driver of one of the other vehicles, who police said suffered a moderate back injury; a 15-year-old boy and eight-year-old girl, who were both passengers with Miler and who suffered minor injuries; and the driver of the third vehicle, Kelly S. Lucarelli, 37, of Fogelsville, and two of her passengers, Gerald Miller, 63, and Renee Miller, 60, both of New Tripoli. The latter three all sustained minor injuries, according to police.Police said the accident happened as all three vehicles were traveling south on Rt. 100. Miler, driving a 1990 Honda Accord, and Lucarelli, operating a 2003 Kia Sedona, were both legally stopped at the time in a PennDOT construction zone, when Lehman's vehicle struck the rear of the Accord, causing it to strike the rear of the Sedona. After impact, the latter vehicle traveled about 50 yards while the other two vehicles remained at the point of impact.Police were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the the Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Company and Cetronia Ambulance.
