Six specially trained Jim Thorpe forest firefighters department this morning for California whee they will be placed on the heated battlefield against raging forest fires which are burning uncontrollably on the West Coast. Heading the crew is Eugene Dougherty. Others making the trip are Joe Bott, Mike Butrie, Don Vincler, Austin Bott, and Vince Yaich. Dougherty said the initial orders are to help with fires in California, but dispatch could change to help with fires in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
