16 enter guilty pleas in Schuylkill Co.

Sixteen people who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges were sentenced Tuesday by Judge John E. Domalakes in Schuylkill County Court.

Carlos C. Taveras-Tavarez, 26, of 126 E. Washington St., McAdoo, on charges of forgery and criminal conspiracy, was sentenced to serve four to 11 1/2 months in the county prison with credit for having served 334 days and to pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA). He was cited by Det. Glenn Dove, Pottsville police, with credit card fraud and theft from vehicles.Robert Cromer, 35, Plains, Luzerne County, on a charge of criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft from Wal-Mart's Store, Rush Township, was sentenced to serve six to 12 months with the sentence to run concurrent with a sentence serving in Luzerne County prison. He must pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $2,209 to Wal-Mart for laptops stolen. On a charge of driving while his operating privileges were suspended, he received a sentence of 15 days to 30 days to run concurrent with the sentence imposed and pay a fine of $1,000.Raymond Oscar Davis, 39, no address, on a charge of criminal attempt to commit theft of property of PPL Electric Company at its site along Morea Road, West Mahanoy Township, was sentenced to serve three to 23 months in the county prison with credit for having served 96 days, pay a fine of $25, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $500 to the victim.Tend Richard Frederick, 38, Frackville, on a charge of theft from a motor vehicle was sentenced to serve six to 23 months in the county prison with credit for serving 20 days, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $380 to David Kehler, Frackville.LaBarron Fryer, an inmate at the state correctional institution in Ryan Township, on a charge of criminal solicitation to commit contraband by having his wife deliver marijuana to him, was sentenced to serve three to six years with the sentence to commence at the end of the sentence he is now serving, which was imposed by Allegheny County Court. He also must pay $50 to CJEA.Brenda May Gates, 46, Pottsville, was sentenced on a series of charges to serve 12 to 24 months in a state correctional institution.On a charge of theft of leased property from the Rent-A-Center, Pottsville Plaza, was sentenced to serve 12 to 24 months and make restitution of $6,252.73 to the store; passing bad checks to BJ's Used Furniture Store, Pine Grove, serve three to 12 months to run concurrent and make restitution of $758.84 to the store; on theft of leased property from Coca Cola Bottling Company, Pottsville, serve three to 12 months to run concurrent and make restitution of $350.45 to the bottling company and on a charge of passing a bad check pay a fine of $25; passing two bad checks to Marlin Markets, Norwegian Township, serve 24 months probation to run concurrent and make restitution of $1,219.86 to the market; theft by deception by giving a bad check to Minersville Borough for a pool pass, placed on probation 24 months to run concurrent and make restitution of $120.54 to the borough. Gates also must pay $250 to CJEA. Her restitutions total $8,701.42.Seine Nancy Gustitus, also known as Seini Nancy Niu, 25, Tremont, on illegal drug charges was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) probation program for 24 months with the first six months to consist of inpatient drug and alcohol treatment followed by electronic monitoring for the first six months period and intensive supervision for the duration of the sentence, pay $200 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $100 to CJEA, perform 40 hours community service, and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.Raymond G. Hower, 21, Mahanoy City, giving unsworn falsification to authority, given credit for 50 days served in the county prison and was released on probation for 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitution to Michael Carney, Mahanoy City, for theft of two handguns.Leland John LaClare, 55, Watsontown, on a driving under the influence (DUI) charge was given credit for serving 90 days in prison and released on probation six months, pay a fine of $300, $50 to CJEA, $100 to SAE fund and driver's license suspended 12 months. On a summary charge of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic and careless driving was fined a total of $50 plus $100 costs and on a charge of making a false report to police was fined $100 and costs. He also must enroll in the alcohol highway safety school and receive outpatient treatment. LaClare was cited by Trooper Thomas Curtis Jr., when stopped on SR895 in Wayne Township.Richard Jonathan Malave, 19, Paterson, N.J., on a charge of simple assault on Darlene Kechuilis, Shenandoah, was given credit for serving 99 days in the county prison and placed on parole for 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA, $50 to district attorney's office for a bench warrant fee and make restitution of $235.90 to Victim Compensation Program.Nicholas M. McCabe, 20, Shenandoah, on three counts of delivery of a controlled substance sentenced to serve four to 23 months in the county prison with credit for 28 days, pay a fine of $450, pay $100 to CJEA, $300 to SAE, and make restitution of $339 to Bethlehem Regional Lab and $310 to Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.John Joseph Myro, 25, Saint Clair, on a charge of corruption of a minor was sentenced to serve six to 23 months in the county prison with credit for 88 days and pay 50 to CJEA. On a charge of selling or furnishing alcohol beverages to minors was sentenced to serve an additional 12 months on probation and pay a fine of $1,000.William Lee Sourwine, 45, Lebanon, on charges of harassment and disorderly conduct was placed on probation for 23 months and on a charge of harassment Keith Hoover, Tremont, was fined $100 and costs.Joseph David Wetzel, 24, Philadelphia, on a charge of criminal trespass on property of Smoking Joe's Tobacco Shop in Ashland, was sentenced to serve four to 23 months in the county prison with credit for 144 days, pay $50 to CJEA fund and make restitution of $12,820.42 to the tobacco store.Timothy J. Williams, 24, Minersville, on a charge of theft by unlawful taking scrap metal from a property off DeTurksville Road in Washington Township, was placed on probation 12 months and pay $50 to CJEA.Tommy Alan Noll, 30, Pottsville, on a charge of unlawful restraint of Harry Seiders, Pottsville, was sentenced to serve one to two years in a state correctional institution with credit for 11 days served in the county prison and pay $50 to CJEA.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
