The Preceptor Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority held a summer meeting recently at the Tamaqua home of Donna Gerber. Members reviewed meeting and committee assignments, as well as plans for service, social, ways and means; and discussed budgetary matters.A program was presented on ice cream and other frozen dessert facts. Each member was then encouraged to make their own sundae.Upcoming events will include the celebration of Beginning Day on Aug. 25. The event will be held at the third beach at Lake Hauto, beginning at 6 p.m., and will include a picnic. Members are to bring an appetizer or dessert for sharing, as well as the recipe for exchanging. Games focusing on team building will also be available.The next regular meeting of the chapter will be held Sept. 8, at Cabela's in Hamburg. The time will be announced closer to the meeting date.St. Jerome SchoolClasses for the 2010-2011 school year will begin Aug. 30 in St. Jerome's Regional School. The school day begins at 8:35 a.m. with final dismissal at 3:20 p.m. This year, student grades and report cards will be available online to students' parents. Registrations are still being accepted for the fast approaching school year.
