VFW Ladies Auxiliary picnic meetingThe annual VFW Auxiliary Picnic Meeting was held on Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Lake Hauto. President Mandy Breiner presided at the meeting and hosted the picnic. Twelve members were in attendance.General Orders #1 were received. The Fall Conference will be held Sept. 9-12. The District 20 meeting will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m., hosted by Stroudsburg Post and auxiliary. Sixty-six cards were sent by members present and 20 hours were reported under Veterans Assistance. A donation was made to VFW - PAC.Dues are now being collected for 2010-2011. Candle sheets were available; returns are due by the Oct. 12 meeting.A delicious meal was enjoyed by the members. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 6:30 p.m. at the Post Home.Food pantryThe Nesquehoning Food Pantry will be open for the distribution of food on Thursday, Aug. 19, from 1-3:30 p.m. In the Meed's United Methodist Church on West Catawissa Street.Free dinnerThe free community dinner will be served on Wednesday, Aug. 25 from 5-7 p.m. In the Meed's United Methodist Church.
