Six first time offenders placed in Carbon probation program
Six first time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Dispositon (ARD) probation program on Tuesday by Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.
The six were recommended by the district attorney's office and if they successfully complete the program their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete the program or are revoked from it, the Commonwealth reserves the right to prosecute them on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.Those placed included:Danielle L. Ahner, 24, of Palmerton, was placed for six months on a charge of furnishing alcohol to minors. She was arrested on April 24 by state police at Lehighton for an incident along SR903 in Penn Forest Township.Webb ordered her to pay $350 for the costs of the program and render three hours of community service per month while in the program.David James Huff, 42, of Lehighton, was placed for a year on charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on March 6 along SR248 in Bowmanstown by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the results revealed presence of a controlled substance.He was ordered to pay $450 for the program, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, license suspended for 60 days and must render 20 hours of community service.Penny Lynn Roth, 45, of Palmerton, was placed for six months on a charge of simple assault. She was arrested on April 19 by state police at Lehighton for an incident in Bowmanstown with Paul Roth the listed victim.She was ordered to pay $350 for the program and render 15 hours of community service.Cassandra L. Shafer, 19, of Jim Thorpe, was placed for six months on a charge of simple assault. She was arrested on March 5 by Mahoning Township police for an incident at the Walmart store with Brea Moyer the listed victim.Webb ordered her to pay $500 for the program.Jonathan Scott Strohl, 22, of Jim Thorpe, was placed for a year on a charge of escape. He was arrested on March 25 by Lehighton police for an incident in the 200 block of N. First St.Webb ordered he pay $350 for the program and render three hours of community service per month while in the program.Emanuelle Valentin, 21, of Pensauken, N.J., was placed for a year on a charge of theft by unlawful taking-movable property. He was charged by state police at Lehighton with the theft of a snowboard at the Blue Mountain Ski Area in Lower Towamensing Township on Feb. 21.Webb ordered he pay $350 for the program and render 15 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
