Monroe man cited for resisting arrest

A Monroe County man was cited for resisting arrest and simple assault following an incident that occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 10.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 12:24 a.m. officers were dispatched to 5540 Seven Nations Drive, in the Pocono Farms development in Tobyhanna, for a report of a male had cut his wrist and was threatening suicide.At the scene officers observed Eliu Irizarry, 34, of that address, standing in a bathroom holding a razor blade and beer bottle. Irizarry had cut his wrist and refused verbal commands to drop the weapons. Irizarry then picked up another beer bottle and came towards the officers in an aggressive manner, police said.Irizarry was subdued with an electronic control device and taken into custody. Irizarry was transported to the county prison in Snydersville where he was temporarily committed. Irizarry was charged with resisting arrest and simple assault, police said.
