A Tamaqua businessman was charged with fraudulent business practices after he failed to deliver oil to two residents in Summit Hill.

According to Summit Hill police Scott Steffi, 45, of 442 Willing St., acting as the owner of STS Heating Oil, was charged with theft for failure to make disposition of funds received and fraudulent business practices after police received two criminal complaints on the company.Police said two victims filed complaints against Steffi after they paid for oil but never received it. One victim prepaid for oil in the amount of $803.19, while the other paid $1,461.75.Police said the victims signed a contract for services from 2009 to 2010, but Steffi failed to make scheduled monthly deliveries and failed to issue refunds upon request.
