Remnants of a castle

The ruins of the former Erwin Castle stand along Hill Road in Jim Thorpe. The site has made the Internet on theweirdusmessageboard.com (do a search for Jim Thorpe). A sign along Hill Road gives the history of the castle and indicates there are plans to construct "a castle like cottage on a portion of the old home's foundation." The Erwin Castle originally was the home of Dr. Bertine S. Erwin, who served as the private physician of the Asa Packer family physician and confidant until the death of Mary Packer Cummings in 1912.
