A Monroe County man is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) while operating a lawn mower.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said on Thursday about 1:09 a.m. officers were on patrol along SR611 in Coolbaugh Township when they observed a lawn mower being driven northbound. When police caught up with the mower the operator turned off the lights and drove the mower into woods on private property.Officers then located the mower on Goose Pond Road, at Hemlock Drive, and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as William Greene, 44, of Overlook Place, Coolbaugh Township.Greene was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody for DUI, police said. Charges will be filed at the office of District Judge Anthony D. Fluegel of Mt. Pocono, police said.
