Two cited for criminal trespass

A Jim Thorpe man and a Lehighton man were charged by Coaldale police with criminal trespass after being caught drinking beer on property owned by a Montgomery County firm.

Steven Craigie, 26, of 44 W. Sixth St., and Michael Hricik, 30, of 1203 Mahoning Mountain Rd., were caught drinking on the property, formerly owned by Lehigh Coal and Navigation, Pottsville, and now owned by BET Associates of Horsham.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Officer Jeremy P. Talanca, Craigie was found on the property, at Second and Water streets, at 3:45 a.m. June 27. Security officers had called police because they suspected trespassers were on the property after finding a Jeep Cherokee with two people inside the gates.Talanca spoke with the driver, Hricik and his passenger, Craigie. Both had been drinking, and claimed they had somehow gotten lost on the property while looking for a friend. Talanca discovered Craigie was on probation at the time, and arrested him for violating the terms.Talanca told Hricik he would get a citation in the mail, and that he needed to have someone come to pick up his vehicle. He took Craigie back to the police station and called his probation officer, who told Talanca to release Craigie and to have him check in with the probation officer the next day.
