A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Sunday, July 25, following a domestic assault incident.

State police at Frackville identified the man as Christian E. Van Horn, 32, of Mahanoy City,According to troopers the incident began about 2:30 a.m. along Park Place Road, in Mahanoy Township. A 33-year-old female from Barnesville reported she was driving at the above location when Van Horn kicked the windshield of the vehicle causing it to shatter. He then kicked the steering column and broke the windshield wiper control. Troopers said the female said Van Horn then punched her in the face. When they arrived at a residence along Park Place Road, the assault continued in the residence. He grabbed her around the neck and choked her. She suffered bruises and swelling, troopers said.Van Horn was taken into custody later in the day and arraigned before duty District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $5,000 straight cash bail.
