Stefanek steps down as Marian hoop coach

The TIMES NEWS has learned that Mick Stefanek has resigned as Marian High School boys basketball coach.

Stefanek, who had the second longest tenure among boys basketball coaches in TN coverage area, announced his resignation over the weekend according to several sources.In his 11 years as the Colts' head coach, Stefanek had a 165-124 record. His teams won Schuylkill League Division championships each of the last three years. This past season was Stefanek's best year at Marian as the Colts went 23-6, played in the Schuylkill League title game, captured the District 11 Class A championship, and advanced to the second round of the PIAA State Tournament.The TIMES NEWS will have more on Stefanek's resignation later this week.
