Rock, pop, country, and comedy are among the genres on entertainment on the spacious Penn's Peak stage in the coming weeks.

Just recently announced at the Jim Thorpe venue is a concert on Thursday, Aug. 19, by Saving Abel, who is making a return appearance, this time with American Bang and Taddy Porter.Saving Abel's newest album, "Miss America," went on sale just three weeks ago and already has soared to number 16 on this week's Billboards rock albums chart. The CD features the single, "Stupid Girl (Only in Hollywood).The quintet continues their current world tour which has, over the past several months, touched down in India, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq (via a USO / Armed Forces Entertainment tour of the Persian Gulf), extensively across the U.S., and in the middle of the Pacific Ocean aboard the USS Carl Vinson as the vessel returned from Haiti.Saving Abel, named after the Biblical sibling of Cain, was formed by Jared Weeks and guitarist Jason Null in 2004 in their hometown of Corinth, Miss. The band is now based in Memphis.Next up on the Penn's Peak calendar is Aaron Lewis of Staid, on his solo acoustic tour.For Lewis, the frontman of Staid, this is his sixth annual acoustic tour.He began his musical career with his father's hand me down acoustic guitar and a dream. He played acoustically for years before joining up with the guys from Staind.Then, in 2004, he ventured back to the solo acoustic circuit. He is touring the country playing both Staind classics and Aaron Lewis originals.Lewis has been nominated for three Grammys.On November 4, 2006, he performed at his old high school in Longmeadow, MA and gave all the proceeds to the music department to fund the department's expenses to buy new equipment and supplies.Nobody delivers fun from the stage like Herman's Hermits with Peter Noone, who will be at Penn's Peak on July 9.Anyone even vaguely familiar with 60s music is well aware of Noone and Herman's Hermits. The band has had many hits, including "Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter," "Henry the Eighth," "There's A Kind of a Hush," and "I'm Into Something Good."Remember the song "Love Shack?" The group which sang it, The B-52's, land on the Penn's Peak stage on Thursday, July 15.In late 2004, the band opened for Cher on a few dates of her Farewell Tour. In March 2006 they opened for The Rolling Stones at a benefit for the Robin Hood Foundation.They had three remix EPs released by Planet Clique: Whammy! in 2005, Mesopotamia in 2006 and Wild Planet in 2007. During this time span they appeared on many television shows including The L Word,
