Four County Firemen's Parade scheduled Saturday in Slatington

Break out those fire hoses and amp up those sirens!

It's time for the annual Four County Firemen's Convention and Parade.Hosted by the Slatington Fire Department and Diamond Fire Company of Walnutport, the 113th annual event will be held Saturday in Slatington.The convention will be held at 9 a.m. in the Diamond Fire Company Social Hall, located at 110 Main Street in the Borough of Walnutport.The parade will begin at 1 p.m., rain or shine. Registration and judging will start at 8 a.m., and will be conducted at the Northern Lehigh School Complex located at 1 Bulldog Lane, Slatington.The two-mile parade will form in the area of Victory Park/Riverview Acres, where it will follow Main Street into Walnutport. It will then turn right onto Lincoln Avenue, right onto Third Street and end at the former Paris Accessories lot in the area of the railroad tracks. There will be festivities at the Diamond Fire Company parking lot on Main Street across from the Fire Company.After the parade, there will be food and beverages available along with entertainment. Souvenir T-shirts and mugs will also be available at both the convention and parade.The event is comprised of five counties: Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton and Pike.
