A fawn believed to be about three weeks old was rescued this afternoon by staff members of the Carbon County Environmental Education Center after it was discovered in a sinkhole about 100 yards east of the Jim Thorpe Sportsmen's Club. Judy Wink, naturalist at the center; her assistant, Susan Gallagher, and summer intern Tonya Marushak brought the baby deer to safety while its snorting mother watched from about 25 feet away. The fawn was discovered by Leo and Jerome McArdle, Lansford brothers, who were fishing nearby.
