More than 70 cars fielded at 7th Annual Classic Car Show

More than 70 cars were fielded for the Seventh Annual Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Co. Classic Car Show held Saturday on fire company grounds, making it a great day for everyone to see some snazzy cars.

For Fred Savarese of Kresgeville, it was a great day to relax and talk to old friends.Savarese likely had the most unique vehicle fielded, a 1953 Willy's Jeep, which he painted olive drab in honor of the troops."I have it 26 years," he said. "It's older than my daughter."Savarese said the vehicle is not street legal. "I used to show it and then I started mud racing with it."Savarese said that he flipped it and cracked the Jeep body, which he replaced. Savarese said the Jeep didn't have a speedometer and that if it would, he could not have read it anyway because the truck bounces so much."This is the third body," he said. "I'm done with racing and I'm back to showing."Saverese said that the he hand built the Jeep.Saverese was one of the winners in the show.
