Twenty-five students, representing the Future Business Leaders of America and the Sports and Entertainment Marketing classes at Lehighton High School as well as their teachers, Kim Mychaliszyn-Simko and Matt Fisher, volunteered at a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs game against the Louisville Bats, which was played on Thursday, May 20 at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown.

During the game, the students worked the concession stands. Each volunteer received a T-shirt and lunch.The Lehighton volunteers included: Emily Day, Brianna Oswald, Darrin Arndt, Alyssa Schleicher, Steven Anthony, Kaitlyn Bandholz, Brad Bickert, Dalton Christman, Ian Christman, Steph Collins, Derek Counterman, Brandon Edgar, Celeste Hawk, Sara Kistler, Debra Lobien, Jessica Lobien, Sean Maloney, Charles Mest, Katrina Reppert, Tia Rex, Jordan Sample, Jourdan Semmel, Sarah Snyder, Jake Stauffer and Noah Tkach.Nearly 6,000 students from schools in and around the Lehigh Valley came to Coca-Cola Park. The Education Day game-day events are part of the Iron Pigs' Swine Smarts program, which helps teachers incorporate elements of baseball into a lesson (calculating a "batting" average). Lehigh Valley Network, who sponsored the Education Day, added health topics to the curriculum (the importance of wearing sunscreen and a helmet) as well as stressing the fundamentals: physical activity and proper nutrition.
