Science and music workshops offered at Palmerton Library

The Palmerton Area Library will offer two summer camp workshops for children who have completed kindergarten through grade 5.

Beginning July 12-16, from 1-4 p.m. each day, the library will offer a Super Science - Inventors Workshop. The library will supply recycled materials and the campers will use their imaginations to develop eco-friendly "green" inventions. During the week they will explore great inventions, build balloon cars, make mineral paints and explore the science of soundDuring the second week, July 19-23, the library will offer Amazing Art - Creative Minds of Music. Campers will learn the basics of music, set production and how to produce their own musical sensation. Children will learn to develop time management and teamwork skills, while enjoying games and playing their instruments. The week will culminate in a production of "Amazing Artist," for family and friends. During the week campers will find their inner musician, make their own rhythm instruments, "stomp" the house, and be a part of their own musical production. The day camps are being funded by the Horsehead Resource Development Grant. Parents must pay a registration fee per child per week to sign up. Children may attend one week or both, but class size is limited. No phone registrations will be accepted.Call Diane at (610) 826-3424 for more information.
