McAvoy will play baseball at Wilkes

Kyle McAvoy has decided to further his academic and baseball careers at Wilkes University this fall.

McAvoy was a three year starter for the Panthers' baseball team where he played shortstop. This season, he had 28 hits, 27 runs scored, 25 RBIs, two home runs and a .406 batting average.In addition to baseball, McAvoy was also a standout football player for the Panthers where he was a four-year starter at free safety and a two-year starter at tailback. During his gridiron career, he rushed for 2,077 yards, scored 25 touchdowns and earned First Team recognition on the TIMES NEWS Area All-Star team as well the AFL and Athracite Region teams.McAvoy is an Honor Roll student at Panther Valley High School and had a 91.0 Grade Point Average. He will be pursuing a degree in business administration,The Colonels are members of the Freedom League in the Middle Atlantic Conference.
