Pocono arrests

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on several arrests made by officers recently.

On Monday, May 24, about 8:10 p.m. officers were dispatched to 150 Sterling Rd., Apt. 150, in Mt. Pocono, to a report of an assault incident. Upon arrival officers encountered Tony Sprinkle, 39, of that address, inside the apartment. Spinkle was visibly intoxicated and had received a head injury in a fall down a set of stairs. He was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for treatment.Witnesses told police that Sprinkle had brandished a knife and threatened to kill his wife and children. Reportedly, Sprinkle fell down the stairs as he walked toward his wife with the knife.After he was released from the hospital he was taken into custody on charges of simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment. He was placed in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment, police said.On May 16 about 3:20 a.m. officers were dispatched to a residence along old Route 940 in Pocono Pines to a report of a protection from abuse (PFA) order violation. Upon arrival officers spoke with Marissa Cornell, 33, who said she was contacted by Brian Cornell, 40, and harassed by him. He is her ex-husband. The contact was a violation of a PFA order, police said.An arrest warrant was issued for him and he turned himself into police on May 20 and charged with the violation.On May 21 about 8:10 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop along SR940 in Pocono Lake. The driver was identified as Charles Hayes Jr., 29, of Pocono Lake. While speaking with Hayes officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the passenger side of the car. A search of Hayes' vehicle was conducted and found was prescription medication, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.Hayes was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.On Sunday, May 23, about 6:02 p.m. officers were called to the Kmart store in Mt. Pocono, for two females in custody by store personnel for theft.Store personnel told police the two were observed concealing clothing items in their handbags. Total value of the items was $120.92.The two were identified as Katieann Brown, 19, and a 13-year-old, both from Mt. Pocono. Both were charged with retail theft.
