LCCC offering free youth camps for Carbon and Schuylkill Co. kids

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) is pleased to announce exciting summer camp opportunities for students in Carbon and Schuylkill counties. All camps are funded free through state grants. These camp experiences will be focused on three career areas, pre-engineering, environmental science and information technology.

Environmental Science Summer Camp will be held Monday through Friday, June 21-25, from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Students will become familiar with environmental issues relating to the Nesquehoning Creek Watershed by collecting samples and analyzing data using standard analytical kits. Course number is YOU 727-C50. Students age 11-13 are eligible to attend. Camp takes place at LCCC's Carbon Center.Students age 12-14 can attend Information Technology Summer Camp free of charge. This fully-funded camp enables students to learn the importance of teamwork, communication, and critical thinking while having fun learning about computers. This class will be offered Monday through Friday, June 21-25, from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Carbon County Career & Technical Institute (CCTI). Course number is YOU 747-C90.This class will also be offered at LCCC's Morgan Center Monday through Friday, July 12-16, from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Course number is YOU 747-T90.Featuring computerized drafting, project planning, problem-solving using the scientific method and the basics of semi-conductor manufacturing, Pre-Engineering Summer Camp addresses various engineering disciplines through hands-on experience. Recommended for students age 12-14, this fully-funded camp is held Monday through Friday, July 12-16, from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Carbon County Career & Technical Institute (CCTI).
