Riverwalck Saloon, 8 Center St., Parryville, was given a deadline of June 22, which is the date of the next meeting of Parryville Borough Council, to provide permit applications that the borough has been requesting for months. Parryville Borough Council President Mike Grant announced the deadline after an executive session held Tuesday at borough hall to discuss the situation.

At the February Council meeting, Parryville Council had given owner Mark Stemler 90 days to prepare for an appearance before the Parryville Zoning Hearing Board, but that deadline has expired and council still does not have the permit applications.This announced deadline by Grant will force Riverwalck to provide permits by a deadline. The previous deadline had been extended at the request of Att. Carole Walbert, who is representing Stemler. Walbert had said in February that the engineer needed 30 to 60 days to prepare the permit application. The extension was supposed to resolve the restaurant's legal issues regarding zoning violations.Stemler is appealing violations of the construction of the two outdoor buildings and parking issues, plus the rustic entrance way made from tree trunks that Stemler added that restrict the parking lot opening.Riverwalck representative Carl Eckhart said on Tuesday night that Riverwalck employees are instructed to not park in the playground parking lot. Eckhart said that he has warned the employees that if they violated the parking rules they would be fired.Grant also noted that Parryville is seeking to adopt a burning ordinance that will meet the requirements of the entire borough.Att. Mike Greek noted that the borough must adopt an ordinance halting police protection by Weissport Police Department because it is causing legal problems at the District Magistrate. Both Weissport and Parryville have agreed in writing to each other to stop shared services of the police department. Weissport does not have the funds to continue the service and Parryville does not have funds to contribute toward the costs.
