Lansford UVO services Monday in Lansford

The United Veterans Organization of Lansford has scheduled its Memorial Day parade and service for Monday, May 31.

The starting time for the parade is 8:30 a.m. beginning at the monument at St. Catherine Drexel R.C. Church on East Abbott Street.The

U.V.O. and JROTC firing squad will render a salute at St. Catherine Drexel Church, and at the Abbott Street Memorial Stone, where the auxiliary presidents of the AMVETS and Legion will place wreaths.The parade will form and march north on Tunnel Street, then west on Ridge Street to the American Legion Post where a wreath will be placed and a salute rendered.The parade will continue south on Center Street to the St. Nicholas Church Memorial stone where there will be a military salute.The march continues west on Bertsch Street to Courtright Street, turning east to Kennedy Park where the main program will be held. U.V.O. requests all residents to display the American flag on Memorial Day, view the parade, and try to attend the services at Kennedy Park.All veterans, Sons of AMVETS, Sons of the Legion, Legion Riders, Girls Scouts, Brownies, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and anyone who is present serving in the armed services are invited to take part in the parade, Pogwist said.
