LCCC to offer summer program for young children

Lehigh Carbon Community College will offer noncredit youth programs for school age children this summer. "Sports and Shorts" is for students in grades 1 through 5.

Sports and Shorts is a unique 3-week camp that encompasses both an academic and athletic component.Three sessions of Sports and Shorts Junior and Senior will be available throughout the summer.Session I: June 14 - July 2Session II: July 6 - 23 (No class July 5)Session III: July 26 - August 13All sessions are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon. The Junior program is for children ages 6 & 7; the Senior program is for students ages 8-11.Offerings will include:SPORTS & SHORTS JUNIORSports (athletic) - Kickball, Mission Impossible and Volleyball.Shorts (academic) - Be a Better Reader I, II & III, Nimble With Numbers, Writing Rocks, Nuts About Nature, and Brainteasers.SPORTS & SHORTS SENIORSports (athletic) - Kickball, Mission Impossible and Volleyball.Shorts (academic) -Creative Writing "Broadcast News", Mad Scientists, Be a Whiz Kid, Incredible Inventors and Inventions, Endangered and Extinct Animals, and Theatre Workshop.In addition, two extended care "camp-oriented" programs will be offered Monday through Friday on the same dates.Optional P.M. classes are available only to students registered in the Sports & Shorts Junior & Senior programs only, ages 6-11.Optional P.M.
