Leo Haley, court attendant for Judge D. Michael Stine, has received an invitation from President Obama to be one of 16 members of the national chapter of Catholic War Vets to participate in the annual wreath laying on Memorial Day at the grave of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery, Washington D. C.Haley is also first vice president of the national chapter of Catholic War Veterans and has been commander of the Pottsville Catholic War Veterans Post for the past 14 years.He is a veteran of World War II.The President will lay the first wreath followed by the war veterans. Circuit Court to have a sentence of 122 months in a federal prison set aside.He had entered a guilty plea on July 31, 2007 to receipt of child pornography on his computer.A federal grand jury indicted him on October 10. 2006. He was charged with willfuly and knowing receiving child pornography on his computer.SentencedThomas David Hillibush, 41, Mahanoy City, who was found guilty by jury last March was now sentenced by Judge Jacqueline Russell on a charge of burglary to serve four to 10 years in a state correctional institution, shall provide 100 hours of community service, shall submit to alcohol and drug and mental health evaluation, make restitution of $20 to Nancy Boyle.Mahanoy City, for use of her credit card and $56.06 to the Cocoa Hut.On three other charges, forgery, access device fraud and tampering with evidence he received concurrent sentences from six months to 18 months.He received credit for serving 199 days.Revoke ParoleBradley Merwine, 30, Tremont, had his parole revoked by Judge Charles M. Miller and he was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison to serve the balance of his sentence.His new maximum date for release was set back to June 9, 2010.Merwine was placed on probation on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia as charged by Trooper Gary Williard, Jr.Revoke ProbatinJustin Washick, Pottsville, had his probation revoked by Judge D. Michael Stine who found he had violated terms of his probation. However, because he had served 23 days in the county prison he was released on a second change and was placed on probation for 12 months.Washick originally placed on probation on charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.He was cited by Corporal Dennis Wiederhold, Pottsville Police.Removed From ARDJames John Grady, Jr., 40, Shenandoah, was removed by Judge Charles M. Miller from the ARD (Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition) Program, which is a special probation program for first offenders to allow them to serve a sentence to clear their name of a criminal record.After a hearing Judge Miller ruled Grady violated the terms and removed him from the program and his case was returned to the trial list. If he is now found guilty the record stands.Grady was cited by Trooper Mark Ruscavage and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.He was placed in the program last June to serve 12 months probation.Tax AppealsBlue Mountain School District won another appeal to have property tax increased on a property located in the school district boundary.The appeal was on the property of Kenneth Knittle and Lori Blozousky, 200 Chestnut Ridge, Deer Lake Borough. After a hearing Judge John E. Domalakes increased the market value of the property from $100,000 to $190,000 and fixed the assessment on the property at $72,580 for 2008 taxes, $70,870 for 2009 taxes and $75,810 for 2010 taxes.Gary and Catherine Cortese, 1801 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville, lost their appeal from the the decision of the Schuylkill County Board of Appeals who increased the value of the property on appeal of the Pottsville Area School District from $257,584 to $285,000. Judge Domalakes upheld the ruling and set the market value at $285,000 and fixed the asessment at $108,870 for 2008 taxes, $106,305 for 2009 taxes and $113,715 for 2010 taxes.Revoke Special ProbationDebra Ann Zerbey, 49, Poirt Carbon, was removed by Judge John E. Domalakes from the Immediate Punishment Program, a special probation program, and was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in a state correctional institution.She was originally placed in the IPP last February 2 for a driving under the influence of charge and after serving 30 days in the county prison was released on probation for four years and 11 months but she violated terms of the probation and now must serve time in a state prison.Marriage LicensesAndrea Marie Panko and Markus A.
