A Hometown man has been cited by Tamaqua police for underage drinking.

Officers were dispatched to the 11 N. Greenwood St. area at 2:47 a.m. Sunday for a man reported to be in the street, shirtless, swinging a baseball bat. At the scene they discovered Joshua M. Dewire, 20, of 66 Holland St. Dewire said he had the bat because he had been assaulted by several males. He could not name his assailants but did have a small cut and a brush burn.Dewire exhibited signs of alcohol intoxication and was cited.
