May 19, 1990 Palmerton's Kristyn Mizack wins gold in both the Class AA long and triple jumps at the annual District 11 track and field championships. Mizack is one of eight TIMES NEWS area athletes to win gold but is the only one to be a double winner. Lehighton's Heather Moyer earns first in the Class AAA javelin, while Megan Shaughnessy of Northwestern breaks the tape in the AA 1600. In boys competition, those gaining gold medals include Lehighton's Todd Wolfe (AAA discus), Marian's Mike Makovec (AA long jump), Northwestern's Mike Wertman (AA high jump) and Panther Valley's Joe Perilli (AA shot put) and Ray Ziegenfuss (AA 1600).
