A survey of housing in the Bankway Redevelopment Project area of Lehighton has determined that 61 percent of the buildings in the area have exterior deficiencies. The statistic was mentioned during a hearing conducted at the Lehighton Municipal Building by Ronald Bednar, borough planner, regarding funding for the three-year Community Development Block Grant. Bednar said 88 percent of the homes in Lehighton were built prior to 1939 and have not been replaced or rehabilitated.
