Coaldale borough will soon have a new officer added to the force. His pay will be nearly nothing. Sam, a trained Rottweiler weighing in at a trim, but fit, 80 pounds, will be a member of the Coaldale Police Department by November after his extensive 26 week police training course. Coaldale's K-9 police unit will be handled by officer Tim Delaney. Delaney will go through a six-month course with the pooch. Sam is 11 months old and his training will give him the skill of sniffing for drugs, tracking lost children, and patrolling.
