Both the Democratic and Republican parties will vote on committeeships within their respective parties during the Primary Election on Tuesday, May 18.

On a countywide level, each party will elect one person who will represent their respective parties on the state committees. Carole Walbert of Jim Thorpe is the lone candidate for a seat on the Pa. State Democratic Committee and Gilbert J. Gerhard of Packer Township is unopposed for the seat on the Pa. Republican State Committee.Meanwhile, the Democratic Party bylaws call for one committeeman and one committeewoman to be elected in each of the 51 election districts. The Republican Party regulations call for GOP voters to elect committee members on an at-large basis in municipalities.Coincidentally, each party has 61 candidates who filed petitions to have their names placed on the ballots.DemocraticcandidatesIn tomorrow's Democratic balloting, two committeeship contests exists.
