A Luzerne County man pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) in Carbon County court.

Jonathan L. Alvarez, 20, of Hazleton, was scheduled to have a non-jury trial before Senior Judge Richard W. Webb but instead entered into a plea bargain and pleaded guilty to one count of DUI. In exchange for the plea prosecutors dropped a charge of possession of marijuana and a summary motor vehicle code offense.Alvarez was arrested on Aug. 29, 2008, along Broad Street, in Beaver Meadows.Webb sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and court costs, one year license suspension and a $50 per month supervision fee.The prison term runs concurrent with a term Alvarez is serving in Luzerne County.
