Blue Mountain Health System will hold its 21st annual Children's Health Fair on Friday, May 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lehighton Recreation Center, 243 S. Eighth St., Lehighton. This year's theme is "Cultures Around the World," and it is open to any Carbon County student in kindergarten through second grades, as well as their teachers. Younger children and their caregivers are also welcome to attend by scheduling a session time.

Three sessions will be held during the day that children can attend. The first session is from 9-10:30 a.m.; second, 10:45 a.m.-12:20 p.m.; and third, 12:30-2 p.m.This year's activities will include dental health, healthy heart, exercise and physical fitness, beginning alcohol and addictions basic education, poisons and tobacco smoke, winter safety, handwashing, effects of second hand smoke, booster seat/seat belt safety, herbs, sun and water safety, boundaries and Internet safety.At the end of each session, children will receive a "goody" bag.For more information on the event, contact Mary Lou McGeehan, community education coordinator, at (610) 377-7070.
