The Greatest Lesson...

Dear Editor:

I was sad to learn of the death of a beloved teacher. His name is Robert Kovac Sr. and he taught English at the Jim Thorpe Senior High for many years. He wasn't just a teacher to a lot of us, he excited us to read, urged us to tell him about the books that we read. He introduced me to Beowulf, which is still one of my favorite books. He talked to me when my father passed and showed he was a friend as well as a teacher, he will be missed greatly by many more than myself. Thank you Mr. Kovac....for teaching me to read and write from the heart ...The Greatest Lesson ….When left to our devicesWe live to forgive the daysWe tend to regret in lifeDays we left too soonFor things that just wereA blink of a tear filled eyeWords spoken from the heartAs one friend to anotherListening to what one feelsTragedy leads to thoughtsOf regrets, moments, & wordsHe led me to find my voiceFurther along the trail I wentThan I might have gone beforeHe gave no promise for tomorrowJust wished me to live the day outWith the conviction I never knewI had to use within myself, somehowHe knew it was there in the embersThe words I have now are simple onesThank you for the lessons you taughtAnd the friendship you offered manyWith you deeds, we found our wordsAnd that in itself is the greatestlesson ….By Mark S Driesbachformer studentJim ThorpeIn Memory of Our Teacher thank you for the lessons learned …
