Tamaqua woman facing charges

A Tamaqua woman faces a host of charges following an incident in the borough last Thursday.

Officers were first dispatched to the fountain at Depot Square Park at 9:45 p.m. where a woman was sitting, telling people she had been assaulted. Once at the Five Points area officers were directed to 18 Mauch Chunk St., where they found Christine C. Ritter, 23, of 12 W. Broad St. Ritter was visibly intoxicated, bleeding from a head wound, causing a commotion, claiming she had been punched in the face and that someone had stolen her keys.Ritter told officers her attacker was a Christine Hosier. Hosier told officers she had demanded that Ritter give her back the $60 she had stolen. Ritter refused, followed her inside 18 Mauch Chunk St., then grabbed Hosier and shook her. A witness agreed with Hosier's side of the story.Tamaqua ambulance personnel attempted to treat Ritter, who refused medical treatment. As EMTs were checking Hosier, who is three months pregnant, Ritter began making a scene leading officers to place her under arrest, handcuff her and transport her to the police station.Ritter was charged with criminal trespass, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.
