Lehigh Valley Arts Council offers workshops for community grants

The Lehigh Valley Arts Council (LVAC) invites individual artists, along with arts organizations and community groups, to apply for up to $3,000 in Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) 2010-11 Project Steam grant funding, which supports arts projects or activities taking place in Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties.

The PPA program is a partnership initiative of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA), and is administered in the Lehigh Valley by the LVAC. Last year, the Lehigh Valley received the highest number of applications by any Pennsylvania partner. 32 awards were given last year, which was 52 percent of the applications received. The average grant size was $910.Eligibility of individual artists (over the age of 18) to apply for PPA Project Stream grant funding widens the circle of funding opportunities in support of arts activities and projects benefiting the Lehigh Valley. Projects must take place between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2011.The 2010-11 Project Stream Grant Guidelines and Application will be available in the near future on the Lehigh Valley Arts Council website at

www.LVArtsCouncil.org. The submission deadline is June 18, 2010.A series of information workshops will be held in each county to further explain the PPA program, requirements and restrictions.
