Coaldale police charge motorist with DUI

John Curtis Premich, 55, of 21 Hurst Rd., Schuylkill Haven, has been charged by Coaldale police with two counts of driving under the influence and a count of disorderly conduct.

According to an affidaviot of probable cause, Officer Jeremy P. Talanca was on patrol at 11:40

p.m.March 5 on Route 209 near 209 Auto Sales when he noticed a dark-colored Ford truck stopped on the side of the road. As Talanca passed the truck, he saw the driver get out and go around to the passenger side.The driver then began to urinate. Talanca turned his cruiser around and began to pull in behind the driver as he got back into the truck and began to roll forward. Talanca activated his lights and stopped the truck. He spoke with the driver, Premich, and noticed a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Premich also had slurred speech and glassy eyes. Premich admitted drinking while at dinner and a show before getting behind the wheel. Premich agreed to take field sobriety tests, and failed them. He was arrested for DUI and taken back to the police station, where Officer Todd Weiss gave him a breath test that showed

0.09.2 percent. Premich was relaeased to a friend who drove him home.
