ALLENTOWN - The IronPig pitching staff was most Un-Savery as Pawtucket, behind rehabbing Red Sox Ace Daisuke Matsuzaka, downed Lehigh Valley.

IronPig starter Joe Savery flirted with disaster for most of his five innings. In the second inning, he walked the lead off hitter. Three batters later, a bases-loaded walk scored the first run of the game. A two out single by Keven Frandsen tacked on another run.In the third inning, Savery surrendered a pair of lead off singles and a walk to load the bases. All the Pawsox could muster was a sacrifice by Dustin Brown to make the score 3-1. A solo shot for Frandsen in the third extended the lead."If you've watched Savery pitch, he's always had command issues," IronPigs manager Dave Huppert said.Alexander Concepcion didn't provide the relief the Iron Pigs needed in the sixth inning to keep the score close. Concepcion gave up a walk and a hit to start the inning. Two outs later he walked the bases load.After Aaron Bates walked to drive in a run, Daniel Nava ripped a base clearing double for the Pawsox to put the game out of reach."That's very uncharacteristic for him," Huppert said of Concepcion's wild night. "He just had one of those nights."Matsuzaka (2-0) got the win in his third rehab start for Pawtucket.Returning to Lehigh Valley after a visit in 2008, Red Sox righty had the IronPig hitters swinging at air for most of the night. He overpowered the meat of the 'Pigs lineup in the fourth inning by striking out Andy Tracy, Cody Ransom, and Dewayne Wise."I wanted to go after those guys," Matsuzaka said of the IronPig hitters he mowed down."I feel my velocity is where it needs to be," Matsuzaka said through his interpreter.He was even thrilled with giving up three runs. His first 15-plus innings in Triple-A yielded no-earned runs."Rather than seeing a perfect line you will see something more realistic," Matsuzaka said.A bright spot for the IronPigs was Wise. The outfielder who is best known for his dramatic, acrobatic catch to preserve Mark Buehrle's perfect game last season for the White Sox, is starting to flash his bat for the IronPigs.In the second inning, he launched a triple to centerfield and later scored on a Matsuzaka wild pitch. In the sixth, Wise' two-run double set the final score."He's starting to feel relaxed [at the plate]," Huppert said of Wise. "He drove the ball and got the big two-strike hit to center field to drive in two runs. Those were big runs for us."The IronPigs (5-8) close out their home stand tonight against Pawtucket. The game will feature Brad Lidge, who will pitch at some point for the IronPigs as he works his way back from two off-season surgeries.For the IronPigs, Drew Carpenter (1-1, 5.79) will face Pawtucket's Fabio Castro (0-0, 5.79)Pig-lets:- In all the IronPig staff walked six batters, two with the bases loaded.
