A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident about 5:24 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said troopers on patrol observed a Buick traveling northbound on SR61 at a high rate of speed passing stopped traffic on the double yellow line and then make a left turn on Dock St., in Schuylkill Haven.The vehicle continued on Dock St. and then onto Garfield Avenue where a vehicle stop was made. The driver was identified as Donna L. Hartranft, of Valley St., New Philadelphia. She admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving and was taken into custody and transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center South, Pottsville, where she submitted to a blood test.Troopers said the DUI charge is pending the test results. Hartranft will be charged with motor vehicle code violations, troopers said.
