Vandals spray grafitti at Tamaqua playground; reward being offered

Vandals targeted a Tamaqua Playground this week, leading a volunteer group to offer a reward for the arrest/conviction of the culprits.

Tamaqua Police were notified of the incident at 3:40 p.m. Thursday, when it was discovered that someone had spray painted the concession stand as well as other parts of the facility. After learning of the damage on Friday, the Tamaqua Volunteers group immediately began painting over the mostly obscene graffiti."We live in a great town and people need to be aware that we don't put up with this type of destructive and malicious behavior, especially at a children's playground," said Andrew Leibenguth, the group's president. The group is offering a $200 reward to the first person who provides police with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the vandal(s).Anyone with information may contact police at 570-668-5000.

The North and Middle Ward Playrgound in Tamaqua was the target of vandals on Thursday.
