Columns that stimulate reaction are my favorite kind. Last week's "You know you live in the coal region" piece did just that. Below are some contributions by a number of readers who related to the column and wanted to add to the list. They surmised that........

If your child within the first 2 years of life received a fishing pole for a birthday or Christmas gift, you live in the coal region. If you go to Wal-Mart because "there's nothin' else to do," you live in the coal region. If you can name five people without thinking that own a pick-up or a Jeep, you live in the coal region. If you move away but always end up back at home everytime, you live in the coal region. If you're worried that the "cricks" are going to get high during a heavy rainstorm, you live in the coal region. If you know where S.H., L.A., and J.T. are, you live in the coal region. If you know what Boilo is, you live in the coal region. If you grow up thinking the first day of buck season is a national holiday, you live in the coal region. If your local tavern displays a sign on the front door which reads, "Closed Election Day, use back door same like Sunday," you live in the coal region. If you ever went hunting for "nightcrawlers" with your dad, after dark, with a flashlight, you live in the coal regions. If you go to your local tavern and order a Chinese cocktail and the bartender serves you a shot of "shin lee" in a glass of "Ying lang" you live in the coal region. If you inherit the same nickname as your father or your grandfather, you live in the coal region.Other thoughts:Only two states, Delaware and Tennessee, will receive funding in the Federal Government's $4.35 billion Race to the Top program for school system overhauls. Is it any coincidence that Delaware is Vice President Joe Biden's home state? The government was quick enough to bail out the failing banks with billions of dollars, why can't the same government bail out the U.S. Postal Service. If Russell Crowe is as good in the soon-to-be-released movie, "Robin Hood" as he was in the "Gladiator", then "Robin Hood" will be a keeper.Feeling down lately because you're getting older. Here's a message, sent by a long-time reader, that may give you a better perspective.Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years.People grow old only by deserting their ideals.Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up interest shrivels the soul.In the central place of every heart, there is a recording chamber - so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, and courage, you are young. When the wires are all down and your heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then, and only then, have you grown old.A lot of fans might be surprised that Butler University has made it to this weekend's Final Four in the NCAA basketball tournament. But one Summit Hiller has been bleeding Bulldog Blue and White for several years and is now on Cloud Nine that his team has made it to the Big Dance. Good luck, Jake Szczecina, and I hope you're in a pool somewhere that pays you a lot of money if the Bulldogs triumph.A few final thoughts:To loyal reader of this column, Joe Burns and Mindy. May the new addition to your family, baby Ruby, bring you much happiness this Easter season. And the same for Greg and Chrissy (Williams) LeClair, all the way across the big pond in England, celebrating their first Easter with newborn son John Patrick (Jack) LeClair. And, finally, to our own Sean James Urban, "Mom Mom" and "Poppy" say thank you for making our Easter special just like you make every day so special.
