Regular season comes to an end

The Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission winter basketball league concluded its regular season on Wednesday night, with Service Electric, R.R. Frey Services, Two King's Pizzeria and Joe's Place/Joey B's all advancing into next week's playoffs.

With an undefeated regular season record, Service Electric enters as the overall top seed, while Joe's Place/Joey B's (losers of their final two games) won a three-way tiebreaker over Cuz-N-Joe's Place and University Legendz to earn the fourth and final playoff spot.RESULTSSchaeffer's Harley Davidson-Cuz-N-Joe's PlaceCuz-N-Joe's Place evened it record at 4-4 with a 66-59 victory over Schaeffer's Harley Davidson.Jon Veet poured in 23 points for Cuz-N-Joe's Place, while Brandon DeCosmo knocked down four three-pointers and came away with 20 points.For Schaeffer's Harley Davidson, Mike Stankiewicz tallied 14 field goals for a game-high 29 points and Kyle Schaeffer added 12.Midas Touch Hair Salon-Two King's PizzeriaTwo King's Pizzeria punched its ticket into the playoffs with a 47-41 victory over Midas Touch Hair Salon. Midas Touch built a 27-17 halftime advantage and Two King's didn't gain its first lead until under three minutes left in the game.Ron Abdo scored a game-high 22 points, including a 10-for-12 performance from the free throw line, to pace Two King's. Damian Fritz tacked on 15 points in the win.For Midas Touch, Andy McFadden and Nick Bales scored 19 and 17 points respectively.Joe's Place/Joey B's-Service ElectricService Electric capped off an undefeated season with a 63-60 victory over Joe's Place/Joey B's and will enter next week's playoffs as the top seed.Joe Schaeffer's drained five three-pointers and led Service Electric with 17 points. Schaeffer's 31 three-pointers on the season led the league. Also factoring in the victory were Jeff Peel (15 points) and Ted Styka (12 points).Travis Fink led Joe's Place/Joey B's wit a game-high 20 points, while Zach Tofany and Mike Falcon chipped in with 14 and 13 points respectively.University Legendz-R.R. Frey ServicesUniversity Legendz capped off the regular season in style with a 90-75 upset victory over R.R. Frey Services. The 90 points was a league-high and the Legendz victory forced a three-way tie for the fourth and final playoff spot. By virtue of the second tiebreaker criteria, Joe's Place snuck into next week's playoffs.University Legendz buried 11 of its 14 three-pointers in the first half as they built a commanding 51-31 halftime lead.J.R. Graver drained all six of his treys in the first half and came away with 30 points on the night. Matt Scarcella scored 18 points, while Tom McCarroll added 14.For R.R.
