All aboard!

Motorists traveling through the downtown section of Jim Thorpe Thursday afternoon found tricky travel along Route 209 as crews from A.E. Burr, American Building Movers, removed an old, deteriorated rail coach, owned by Reading Company Technical and Historical Society of Hamburg, from the rail yards. The early-1900s passenger coach gave crews problems as it exited the Carbon County parking lot. The main entrance to the lot was shut down to traffic, and highway lanes were restricted for over an hour as the crew worked to maneuver the rail car around the county parking attendant booth and through the exit. The coach was then transported to the Reading Railroad Heritage Museum in Hamburg.
