Holy Week Services

The following local churches have announced their services for Holy Week.St. John's Lutheran Church, South Ave., Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. with the Rite of First Holy Communion and the stripping of the altar. Good Friday service at 2 p.m. There will be no service on Saturday and only one service, on Easter Sunday, that being at 10:30 a.m.St. Mark's/St. John's Episcopal Church services will be Maundy Thursday, 7 p.m. Good Friday, morning prayer at 8 a.m. in the chapel and 7 p.m. in the main church. Holy Saturday, morning prayer in the chapel at 8 a.m. and the great vigil of Easter at 7 p.m. Easter Sunday, 8 a.m. in the chapel and 9:30 a.m. in the main church.St. John's Lutheran Church, Sixth and North streets, Maundy Thursday service with communion at 7 p.m. Good Friday service at 2 p.m. Saturday evening service at 6 p.m. and Easter Sunday service at 9 a.m.Egg HuntThe Diligent Fire Company will hold their 63rd Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 3 at 1 p.m. at the parking lot of the company.All children up to the age of 10 are invited to participate.RecuperatingCorinne Miller of 306 South Ave., Jim Thorpe, who was badly burned in a house fire on Dec. 9, has been released from the Burn Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital. She is currently recuperating at the Hometown Nursing and Rehab Center, 149 Lafayette Ave., Tamaqua. She would appreciate hearing from her friends and neighbors.
